The Gathering 2009 is one of the most important celebrations taking place in Scotland as well a signature event of the Scottish Government’s Homecoming Scotland 2009 program.
It attracted thousand people from around the world to celebrate Scotland’s culture and history.
The Gathering 2009 took place in the capital city, Edinburgh, representing the most important Highland Games’ session as well the most incredible international Clan meeting ever held in this country.
Edinburgh’s Holyrood Park, with its dramatic crags, was the perfect scenario for the Highland Games.
The weekend’s celebrations gathered more than 47,000 people from at least 40 countries around the world, who attended the most famous Scottish activities as the “Deuchars Highland Games Heavy Events Championship”, a competition where the strongest men on the earth challenged in tossing the caber, putting the stone and throwing the hammer.
In addition, 20,000 visitors lined the Royal Mile to watch 8,000 people marching with their clan and the pipes and drums on Saturday evening.
The weekend exceeded all expectations, including Brodies Melrose Drysdale’s ones.
Brodies’ staff attended the celebrations with great enthusiasm, feeling as part of a great historical event..
